Calendar Reminder: 30 June Looms Large For Suns / Amare / Paycheck Earners

Just a reminder that the Suns technically have until June 30, 2010 (aka tomorrow) to sign Amare to an extension and he also has until June 30, 2010 (aka tomorrow) to exercise his player option for the final year of his contract.

↵

Suns interim GM duo of Sarver-Gentry is in Los Angeles today to talk with Amare about that extension and perhaps some chatter about movies and to discuss how his kids are doing. It is universally expected that the chit-chat portion of the meeting will be far more productive then the extension conversation.

↵

More importantly for the vast majority of us, June 30 is the last day of the month and therefore payday.

↵

So, while Amare is turning down 17.7 million dollars to play basketball next season because he can make far more by becoming a free agent, remember this entire game these guys are playing is just a giant version of Monopoly.

↵

In other words, whatever happens with Amare over the next few days the world will continue as it always has and your and my personal lives will not be effected.

↵

In different words, just chill and find some time to laugh at the absurdity of it all because it really is pretty ridiculous when you think about it.
