The league’s leading scorer and reigning MVP fell hard on her back with about 3 minutes to go in the third quarter of the Mercury’s game against the Washington Mystics.
Watching the replay, it appears Taurasi jumped high to try and block a shot attempt from Monique Currie when she was pushed while in the air by Mystics forward Chasity Melvin. Taurasi fell over Currie and landed hard on her back.
After a timeout, Diana attempted to remain in the game but was clearly in pain and unable to move freely and left for the locker room after just a few moments. She did not return.
We are still waiting official word from the team on her status which we will provide once it is available.
