Our Soccer Bud Robbie Findley Won't Be Playing Against Algeria

For many soccer fans, the United States' game against Slovenia this morning was defined by some officiating of the most odoriferous (i.e. stank-ass) quality.

Outside of having the team's potential game-winning goal snatched from them cruelly after fighting back triumphantly from an 0-2 deficit, our Phoenix-born buddy Robbie Findley was disqualified from the USA's upcoming match against Algeria for receiving his second yellow card in two games.

↵

Findley was called for a hand ball even though the ball hit him in the face instead of the hand. The face and hand are both covered in skin and are both part of the upper human anatomy while soccer is mainly focused on the lower human anatomy, so maybe the official just got confused.

↵

I tried digging around for a good video of Findley's face ball, but there wasn't much to be found just yet. You'll just have to trust me that Robbie Findley's face doesn't look much like Robbie Findley's hand, so it was probably not a great call.

Sucks for Findley, who'll have to just telepathically will the Americans to their first non-draw of the 2010 World Cup.
