Another week, another top BCS ranking for the Oregon Ducks of the Pac-10 conference. An impressive 53-16 victory over the Washington Huskies weighed more heavily than Auburn's win over toothless Tennessee-Chattanooga. Oregon is now 9-0 and only has three games standing between them and the BCS National championship game.
After dismantling 5th-ranked Utah in Salt Lake City, TCU moved up in the AP and USA Today polls to third overall. Boise State dropped from 2nd to 4th in the USA Today poll, which hurt their BCS profile in a big way.
The biggest winner this weekend? LSU. After defeating Alabama, the Tigers took its spot in the rankings, ranked fifth overall by the AP and 6th by USA Today. LSU will need some help from either Alabama or the SEC East champion in order for the Tigers to get an automatic bid to a BCS bowl.
In other Pac-10 conference news, Stanford moved back into the top ten after embarrassing the Arizona Wildcats in Palo Alto, 42-17. The Wildcats' overall profile still kept them in the top 20, but this deflating loss to the Cardinal removed them from BCS consideration and gives them another season without a Rose Bowl berth.
