Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) – Ted Lilly threw seven innings to help Los Angeles to a 3-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks in Joe Torre’s final game as Dodgers’ manager.
Lilly (10-12) gave up a run and four hits with two walks and nine strikeouts while Matt Kemp hit a two-run home run for the Dodgers (80-82), who closed out the season with wins in five of their final six games to send Torre away on a high note.
Torre announced a month ago that he will be leaving the team after the end of the season and hitting coach Don Mattingly will take over. Torre departs with a mark of 259-227 over his three seasons. LA won two NL West crowns and took a pair of trips to the NLCS in 2008 and 2009, but were beaten by the Phillies both times.
Rodrigo Lopez (7-16) was touched for two runs on three hits over five innings of work for the Diamondbacks (65-97), who dropped five of six to end the season. Gerardo Parra drove in the lone run.
