Do I hear 30, 30, 30, 30, 30, we got 30. Whatabout 40, 40, 40…
↵OK my best effort at an auctioneer’s call. I do it much better in person.
↵A company called SCP Auctions is holding a news conference tomorrow in Los Angeles to announce that several items from the greatest moment in LA Dodgers history, the Game 1 home run by current D-backs manager Kirk Gibson to end that first game of the 1988 World Series ("She is…gone!!!!"), will be auctioned.
↵According to SCP, Gibson’s bat, batting helmet, home and road uniforms, World Series trophy and Most Valuable Player plaque will be available via an Internet auction Oct. 27-Nov. 13. The items will be displayed at the news conference and Gibson will speak via recorded video.
↵Will Gibby tell us why? I mean, seriously, those are some valuable items. He can’t be a in pinch for cash after being named permanent manager, right? Well, at least he has the home run ball.
