Former Sun Devil Jeff Pendergraph Out With Torn ACL

Tough luck for the second-year center who at times looked fairly productive for the Portland Trail Blazers. Pendergraph tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee in a preseason game in Utah last Thursday.

According to the Portland Trail Blazers, no timetable has been officially announced for his return, but an ACL injury like this usually will take six months of recovery time.

The Blazers are already without Joel Przybilla (knee) and Greg Oden (knee) also suffered a setback in his rehand and is expected to miss the start of the NBA season.

Pendergraph averaged 2.7 points and 2.5 rebounds in 39 games (four starts) as a rookie in 2009-10 with the Trail Blazers. The Arizona State product was the 31st overall pick in the second round of the 2009 NBA Draft.
