2012 NBA Draft: Phoenix Suns Looking At Wing Players

The Phoenix Suns have some places they could upgrade their basketball team this upcoming season. Last year they had four perimeter players in Michael Redd, Shannon Brown, Jared Dudley and Grant Hill. They had their moments, but none of them really could be considered strong talents to really improve their squad overall. So it's quite possible that they might need to get someone better to really become a more complete basketball team.

One possibility is going to the draft and trying to find talented wing players to ensure the squad improves overall. Paul Coro of the Arizona Republic has more.

Only Dudley will not be a free agent in July. Because of that and the need for a dynamic scorer, General Manager Lance Blanks said the Suns are "aggressively looking" at wing players as the NBA pre-draft camp begins today in Chicago.

The Suns could look anywhere on the perimeter with the 13th overall pick in the June 28 draft, particularly due to the uncertain future of free-agent point guard Steve Nash.

...

To bolster their perimeter, the point guards worth considering at No. 13 this year might be limited to Weber State's Damian Lillard and North Carolina's Kendall Marshall. But the wing possibilities in the middle of the draft are deeper. The swingmen who could be available at No. 13 include Washington's Terrence Ross, Duke's Austin Rivers, Syracuse's Dion Waiters, Kentucky's Terrence Jones and Vanderbilt's Jeffery Taylor.

Getting a talented scoring threat through the draft might be hard given the spot the Suns are drafting at midway through the round. But it's quite possible.
