Suns Schedule 2012: Phoenix Continues Road Trip Against Pacers, Cavaliers

As the Phoenix Suns continue to battle for a potential playoff spot in the Western Conference, they'll have to battle through a pair of tough road games this weekend against the Indiana Pacers and Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Suns are currently one game under .500 at 23-24 having won only eight contests away from Phoenix all year. They'll be taking on a Pacers team Friday night that have lost only six games at home all season thus far, a daunting test for Steve Nash and Co. to say the least. Tippoff is set for 4:00 p.m.

They'll travel to Cleveland on Sunday to face off against the Cavs, who have won only nine games at Quicken Loans Arena themselves, before the Suns head home for a meeting with the Spurs on Tuesday. Tip off is set for noon with coverage on NBA TV.

Suns Vs. Magic, NBA Scores: Ryan Anderson's 7 3-Pointers Drop Suns 103-93

The Phoenix Suns are looking to keep up in the Western Conference playoff race, taking on Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic at the Amway Center Wednesday night. And behind the dynamic duo of Superman and Ryan Anderson, the Magic dominated the Suns wire-to-wire for a 103-93 victory.

Five Suns (23-24) wound up in double figures tonight, led by Jared Dudley's 17 on 7-10 shooting and Robin Lopez's 14. Steve Nash had 12 but only 2 assists, while Shannon Brown and Sebastian Telfair each dropped 10 apiece.

But it would prove not enough in the end as Howard and Anderson combined for 57 on the night, led by Anderson's 29 on 7-12 shooting from downtown. Howard added a casual double-double of 28 along with 16 rebounds.

Full box score can be found here.

The Suns now regroup to take on the Indiana Pacers on Friday night from Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Suns Vs. Rockets Video Highlights And Postgame Interviews

More: Redd shoots for season high as Suns down Rockets

Not a bad result for the Phoenix Suns. It was somewhat expected given the Rockets injury situation (missing two starters) and their tired legs after playing the night before in L.A. Sometimes the schedule is your friend and sometimes it's your enemy (see also, this week's back-to-back in Miami and Orlando and six games in nine nights for the Suns). Here's what the guys had to say after the game. Note our first appearance in Bright Side of the Sun TV (subscribe here) of East Bay Ray. You can also see less important people like Steve Nash, Grant Hill and Michael Redd. You won't want to miss Nash's comment on Jared Dudley's "dunk".

Phoenix Suns Down Houston Rockets Behind Michael Redd's Career Night

Led by a season and Suns-high 25 points from Michael Redd off the bench (10-13 shooting), the Phoenix Suns climbed to one-game over .500 with an important home win over the Houston Rockets, 99-86. The Rockets are one of several teams the Suns will need to pass to earn a playoff spot.

"That's vintage Mike Redd," Suns coach Alvin Gentry said, "he gets on a role and he gets really difficult to guard."

Phoenix is now just one-half game behind the Rockets for the eighth spot in the West and with the victory secure their first four-game winning streak of the season.

The Rockets were short-handed without starting point guard Kyle Lowry and starting shooting guard Kevin Martin and they were tired after playing a close game against the Clippers the night before.

"We didn't shoot the ball well, we didn't move the ball, we didn't have a good rhythm to start the game and we got ourselves in a hole and we were never able to climb out of that hole," Rockets coach Kevin McHale said.

This might be a "no excuse league" but those "reasons" certainly played a role in the outcome of this contest. But a win is a win and the Suns will take it.

The Suns jumped out to a 14-point lead in the first quarter and never looked back.

Joining Redd in the scoring column was Channing Frye (19 points, eight rebounds) and Marcin Gortat (15 points, 10 rebounds). Steve Nash finished with four points and 11 assists. The Rockets were led by Luis Scola's 18 points while Goran Dragic added 16 points and 8 assists. The Rockets only shot 43% from the field.

The Suns now will head out on a four-game road trip through Miami, Orlando, Indiana, and Cleveland before returning home to face he San Antonio Spurs on March 27.
