The Phoenix Suns continued their struggles on the road in the first half on Friday night and they find themselves trailing the Houston Rockets by 20 points at halftime. The Suns struggled shooting the ball, hitting just over 40% of their attempts from the field. They made just 2 of their 7 shots from behind the arc and only attempted four free throws.
Steve Nash dished out seven assists and did not score in the first 24 minutes, while Marcin Gortat nearly had a double-double with 12 points and eight rebounds. Channing Frye continues to struggle and has just two points thus far.
The story of the first half came from the Rockets on the offensive end of the court, where they used a balanced scoring attack to build their lead. Kevin Martin led the way with an efficient 11 points. Luis Scola played a strong half and ended with 10 points. Courtney Lee added eight points off the bench.
This is still a winnable game for Phoenix but the team has to bear down on the defensive end of the court if they hope to have any chance. If not, they might as well not even bother showing up for the second half. The team is simply playing uninspired basketball right now.
