The Phoenix Suns defeated the Detroit Pistons on a night there where was plenty of NBA action to follow.
Michael Beasley and Marcin Gortat scored 16 points apiece to lead the Phoenix Suns past the Detroit Pistons, 92-89, to get their first win of the season at the U.S. Airways Center in Phoenix on Friday night. The Suns move to 1-1 on the young season and will next travel to Central Florida to face the Orlando Magic on Nov. 4.
Elsewhere around the league, Kobe Bryant had a game-high 40 points, but the Los Angeles Lakers fell to the Los Angeles Clippers, 105-95, despite his efforts. Chris Paul put together a stellar performance and had 18 points, 15 assists, six rebounds, and three steals on the night.
James Harden and Jeremy Lin led the Houston Rockets past the Atlanta Hawks on the road, 109-102. Harden was especially dominant, lighting up the Hawks for 45 points, a new career high for the Rockets' latest acquisition.
The Hornets' Anthony Davis left the team's game against the Utah Jazz, and was diagnosed with a mild concussion. New Orleans managed to hold on for an 88-86 win.
