Suns vs. Bulls recap: Phoenix can't cap off late surge, lose 112-106 in OT

The Suns were unable to seal the deal in overtime Wednesday, falling to the Bulls 112-106 at the US Airways Center.

After being down by 18, the Phoenix Suns showed some serious resiliency in the fourth quarter to force the game into overtime. They ultimately came up short, however, as the Chicago Bulls bounced back for a 112-106 victory.

Luis Scola had another one of his typically strong games that Suns fans are quickly getting accustomed to as he lead the team with 24 points and 14 rebounds. Sebastian Telfair also had some huge contributions off the bench as he rattled Kirk Hinrich with some hard-nosed defense while chipping in 17 points and sinking four of his eight threes.

The Bulls pushed their lead to 83-69 by the end of the third but instantly went into a funk as soon as the final twelve minutes begin. And as Chicago lost their mojo, Phoenix found theirs. While the Bulls were busy going 4-for-11 from the field in the quarter, the Suns got aggressive down low, outscoring Chicago by 14 points in the paint and out-rebounding them by nine.

Phoenix put the cherry on top of their regulation comeback when P.J. Tucker (six points, eight rebounds) scooped up Telfair's lost dribble and quickly sank a mini-hook to tie it with 9.6 seconds left. The Suns managed to play strong defense on Chicago's final possession to push it into overtime but once they got there, the wheels came off.

The Suns were without their two top rebounders for the extra period after Markieff Morris (eight points, 10 rebounds) left following a hard fall late in the fourth and Scola fouled out in the first 40 seconds of OT. And the Bulls took full advantage of Phoenix's undersized lineup, scoring on all but one of their overtime possessions thanks to five offensive boards.

Phoenix will now have an off day before hitting the road for a nostalgic rematch against a Los Angeles Lakers team featuring two familiar faces: Steve Nash and Mike D'Antoni.
