USA Basketball Cancels Plans To Build Glendale Headquarters

The Arizona Republic is reporting that all plans to build a new training complex in Glendale for the USA Olympic basketball program have been scrapped. The facilities were to be built across from University of Phoenix Stadium in Westgate.

Since the 2008 announcement, the project has been fraught with turmoil. Numerous deadlines have been missed, and the general perception is that the situation has been handled unprofessionally.

This certainly is a big blow for the Arizona sports scene. A top-class training complex in the heart of Glendale was sure to bring respite from Westgate's current struggles.
