Phoenix Coyotes Deal Lee Stempniak To Calgary Flames For Daymond Langkow

Coyotes add veteran center Daymond Langkow from Calgary Flames

In what's been a quiet offseason for the Phoenix Coyotes, outside of the always loud ownership issues, they've at least managed to keep most of their team intact, save Ilya Bryzgalov and Ed Jovanovski.

One of the better teams in the NHL as far as defensive depth goes, the Coyotes have gone through much of the summer without addressing center, which appears to be a real need for this squad.

As of Monday afternoon, it looks like they made a move to address just that. Reports are that the Coyotes have acquired Flames center Daymond Langkow.

Langkow missed almost all of the 2010-11 campaign for Calgary due to a fractured vertebrae suffered after he took a slapshot to the back of the neck.

A solid center, the 34-year-old has been consistent over a career that began in the 1996-97 season. He's hit the 50 point mark six times, with the best season of his career coming in '06-'07, in which Langkow notched 77 points and was a plus-23 for the season.

This is Langkow's second go-around with the Coyotes. He spent three seasons with the Coyotes from 2001 to 2004, before being traded to the Flames in the summer prior to the lockout of '04-'05.

Full details of the trade to acquire Langkow have not been disclosed, but he is already rostered on Coyotes' official site. Stay tuned.
