The story of a Swedish artist, Arizona sports legends and our humble web site.

David Gunnarsson seems like a nice fellow. He lives on a small farm in the south of Sweden with his wife and three kids. He loves Legos and art. According to his web site, David has a “one out of a million mind” that’s the foundation for his success painting custom goalie masks.

You can imagine how flattered we were when David choose to include our SB Nation Arizona web site logo on the custom helmet of Arizona Coyote goalie Louis Domingue.

Gunnarsson posted this explanation for the project on his Facebook page:

Louis Domingue knew what he wanted on his new Arizona Coyotes bucket . He wanted to pay tribute to four legendary sports stars from Arizona.

Randy Johnson. Steve Nash. Larry Fitzgerald. SB Nation Arizona.

Of course, we are humbled to be included in such great company. A pantheon of Arizona sports legends adorning the “bucket” that protects the head of such an important player. The Arizona Coyotes were certainly impressed enough to release this video celebrating David’s work.

But here’s the problem. We respect the work of artists and that includes the one we paid in 2010 to design our logo as part of a network-wide campaign. And our logo has clearly been used on Domingue’s new helmet. You see?

Here’s our logo:

There really can’t be any doubt that our logo somehow made it’s way into David Gunnarson’s mind, through his skilled hands and onto this lovely helmet now worn by a member of the Arizona Coyotes.

We’re sure it’s just some kind of mistake. David is a nice fellow. He likes Legos. We like legos too! But our lawyers tell us that we can’t just ignore this because of laws about intellectual property and such.

So, I think the only solution here is for Louis Domingue to send us his helmet where we promise to keep it safe in our offices and give it the respect it deserves.

SB Nation 11th Floor, 1201 Connecticut Ave NW. Washington, DC 200036.

And really, we’re very flattered. Let’s all just remain sports friends.

No offensive punch. Poor starting pitching from the guy who contended for the NL Cy Young last year. Errors. Mistakes. It was just an ugly day for the Arizona Diamondbacks who took the field after an almost four-hour rain delay and by the time it was over they were wishing the game had been scratched.

It started with Ian Kennedy who gave up six runs off seven hits in five innings. His ERA is now up to 4.55 on the season and he's allowed four or more runs in four of his last six starts. Whatever Ian was doing well last summer, he's doing the opposite this time around.

Without Kennedy at the top of the rotation, the D-backs are missing that all important anchor. Kennedy's performances on the mound has been dragging them down instead of providing a steady base to work from.

The offense didn't offer much help either with just one run in the first inning to show to show for their "efforts" against the Cubs starter, Paul Maholm. Needless to say, a playoff-caliber squad needs to better against the like of Paul Maholm.

Alfonso Soriano provided the punch for Chicago. He had two home runs, two double and racked up five RBI to send the D-backs to sleep with an 8-1 loss. Sweet dreams, boys.

Injured Diamondbacks pitcher Daniel Hudson spoke with the media via conference call on Thursday afternoon to give an update on his injury. Hudson was diagnosed with a torn ligament in his elbow after being removed from Tuesday's game with pain in his forearm.

Arizona's team doctor, after seeing the MRI result, told Hudson the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) was severed which normally leads to "Tommy John" surgery and about a 12 month recovery. Daniel will see another doctor on Friday to get a second opinion and confirm that diagnosis but he didn't sound hopeful for different news.

As for the injury itself, Hudson didn't report feeling a pop in his elbow as often happens with his injury but he did have increased soreness after his last start.

"It felt like general soreness," Hudson said. "Obviously, I was wrong but I'm not a doctor. I can't diagnose myself on the spot. If it felt normal I was going to go out there and compete and I was going to want the ball in my hand.

"When I took myself out of the game against the Braves on Tuesday, it was just one of those things that I couldn't get extended on a pitch, I couldn't finish a pitch without pain in my elbow and that's the first time I ever felt that so I took myself out of the game."

The young right-handed thrower said that throughout his career he's always experienced some amount of elbow soreness after pitching based on his arm and mechanics. He wasn't sure if his preview shoulder impingement injury that put him on the disabled list for about a month was related to the elbow problem.

Here's hoping that Hudson is able to make a full recovery and return to his promising career. We have no doubt that he will put in the work in rehab to get back on the mound.

So far, this has all the makings of a great NBA Finals series. In Game 1, the Oklahoma City Thunder turned up the defensive pressure and sacrificed some offense (James Harden) for some defense (Thabo Sefalosha) and in the process were able to slow Dwyane Wade.

The Miami Heat, for their part, is going to have to come up with a better plan for containing Russell Westbrook's destructive drives. Chris Bosh, who was huge for the Heat in Game 7 against Boston, will also need to dominate his match ups.

The Arizona Diamondbacks fell for the second-straight night to the Texas Rangers. This time, they got a great outing from their starter but were still unable to generate any offense. Lefty Wade Miley was spectacular but he was done in late by a bad call and poor defense from Ryan Roberts.

The Rangers finally broke through on Miley in the bottom of the eighth through no fault of his own. He walked Mike Napoli, but the replay showed the 3-2 slider was in the zone. Napoli advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt and then Miley stuck out the dangerous Nelson Cruz with three pitches. But Craig Gentry hit a rocket to third base that Roberts couldn't handle.

Instead of getting himself in front of the ball so he could at least knock it down and prevent the run, Roberts played it off the hop to the side of his body. The ball bounced off his glove and into left field allowing Napoli to score from second.

And with that unfortunate turn of events, Miley's fantastic game came to an end with 7.2 innings, 93 pitches, three hits, one "walk", and the one run allowed. Wade had a career-high eight strikeouts thanks to a devastating slider that completely fooled the Rangers hitters.

On the other side of the coin, the D-backs offense was held down for the second-straight game. They managed six hits but couldn't put together any kind of sustain rally to drive one or two home.

Rangers LHP Matt Harrison was finally lifted in the eighth inning when Willie Bloomquist doubled down the right field line. In came highly competent reliever, Mike Adams, who proceeded to get the next two outs to end the threat. Harrison's final line was 7.1 innings pitched with six hits and no runs allowed. He struck out three and walked two.

The D-backs and Rangers play the final game of the series on Thursday night with Arizona looking to avoid the sweep.
