Villanova vs. Stony Brook 2012: Preview and TV schedule

The Villanova Wildcats needed some help last Saturday to reach the FCS playoffs. Thanks to a favorable series of outcomes in Colonial Athletic Association play, Nova earned the conference's automatic bid and will face Stony Brook this Saturday for the right to play No. 2 overall seed Montana State next week.

Villanova (8-3, 6-2) averages 263 yards on the ground per game. The Wildcats are 5-1 on the road -- the lone loss to Temple -- and average 37 points for and 14 points against on hostile gridirons. Tailback Kevin Monangai averages 108 yards per game, and quarterback John Robertson has run for 85 yards per game while throwing for 166 a game through the air with a 61 percent completion rate.

No. 10 Stony Brook (9-2, 5-1 Big South) relies on a similarly strong ground game. The Seawolves average 290 rushing yards per game. Tailback Miguel Mayonset won Big South Offensive Player of the Year by a unanimous vote: He led the FCS in rushing (1,721 yards), yards per carry (7.72) and scored 21 touchdowns. Mayonset is spelled in the Seawolves' backfield by one-time Iowa back Marcus Coker.

FCS Playoffs 2012: Stony Brook vs. Villanova, TV schedule and game preview

Stony Brook will host No. 14 Villanova this Saturday for the right to play No. 2 overall seed Montana State next week in the FCS playoffs. The Seawolves earned an at-large bid out of the Big South Conference. The Wildcats earned the Colonial Athletic Association's automatic bid after a fortunate series of outcomes last Saturday.

Villanova (8-3, 6-2) averages 263 yards a game on the ground. The Wildcats are 5-1 in road games this year -- the only loss was to Temple -- and they average a 37-14 win in hostile stadiums. Missouri vs. Texas A&M 2012: TV schedule, game time, spread and more

The Missouri Tigers (5-6, 2-5 SEC) need a win Saturday night to play in a bowl. Their inconsistent offense, which ranks 11th in the SEC in yardage and points per game, might or might not be helmed by quarterback James Franklin, who was concussed last week against Syracuse. Freshman backup Corbin Berkstresser has a 48.9 completion rate with three touchdowns and six picks in spot play this season. Whoever quarterbacks will need help from freshman receiver Dorial Green-Beckham, who has three scores in the Tigers' last two games, and tailback Kendial Lawrence, who has rushed for 414 yards and six touchdowns in the last four games.

With a win at Kyle Field, Texas A&M (9-2, 5-2) can win double-digit games for the first time since 1998 and snap a three-game losing streak to Missouri. Johnny Manziel needs 167 yards of offense to break Cam Newton's 2010 SEC record for total offense. Manziel is averaging 378.3 yards per game. If the Aggies win and LSU and Alabama choke in their weekend rivalry games, Texas A&M will play for an SEC championship.

Gonzaga vs. Oklahoma 2012: TV schedule, game time, and more

Gonzaga moved to 4-0 with a 57-49 win over Clemson Thursday night in the first round of the Old Spice Classic. The Zags will play Oklahoma Friday in the tournament semifinals.

Kelly Olynyk scored 13 points in his first game of the season for the Zags, and Elias Harris kicked in another 13 points against Clemson. Sam Dower added 11, and David Stockton had seven assists.

The Oklahoma Sooners beat UTEP Thursday 68-61. The Sooners held a 20-point lead in the second half, but let the Miners get within six before they closed the door. Romero Osby scored 16 and added 10 rebounds for OU, and Steven Pledger had 12 points for the Sooners.

The winner of Gonzaga-Oklahoma will play the winner of Davidson-West Virginia in the Old Spice Classic championship Sunday, at 4 p.m. PT on ESPN 2. The loser will play in the third place game at 1 p.m. PT Sunday on ESPNU.

NBA Standings 2012: OKC leads the Northwest Division

At 9-3, the Oklahoma City Thunder lead the middling teams of the Northwest Division by three games. Of the other four teams in the Thunder's division, only Portland, at 5-6, does not sit at a .500 record over three weeks into the 2012-13 NBA season.

In the rest of the Western Conference, the 8-2 Memphis Grizzlies lead the Southwest Division, followed by the 9-3 Spurs. The Clippers lead the Pacific Division at 8-3, while the Lakers have chipped back from their 1-4 start to a .500 record at 6-6. Dallas, without Dirk Nowitzki, and Golden State are also over .500.

In the Eastern Conference, the Miami Heat lead with a 9-3 record. No surprise there - that the Knicks lead the Atlantic at 8-2, that the Bucks lead the Central at 6-4, and that the Charlotte Bobcats, at 6-4, will match their season total of seven wins unless they manage to lose 72 games in a row.

USF vs. Cincinnati 2012: Game time, TV schedule, odds and more

The South Florida Bulls travel to Cincinnati Friday night without their top two quarterbacks. B.J. Daniels broke his ankle on Nov. 3, and Bobby Eveld suffered a separated shoulder last Saturday in a 40-9 loss to Miami. Freshman Matt Floyd will helm the Bulls (3-7, 1-4 Big East) Friday. He went 20 of 35 with two interceptions in the Miami game. Tailback Demetris Murphy ran for over 100 yards against Miami, and will need to have a big game for USF to score enough for a win -- the Bulls have given up 23 points or more in eight games this year.

Cincinnati (7-3, 3-2) might have an issue under center as well. Brendon Kay injured his non-throwing shoulder in the Bearcats' 10-3 loss to Rutgers last week, so UC might need to play Munchie Legaux, whom Kay replaced. Two seniors have been stalwarts on offense this year for Cincinnati. Running back George Winn has over 1,000 yards this season, and tight end Travis Kelce leads the team with 472 receiving yards.

Syracuse Vs. Temple 2012: Game Time, TV Schedule, Odds And More

The Syracuse Orange (6-5, 4-2 Big East) have a very outside chance at playing in a Bowl Championship Series game. If the Orange win at Temple Friday, if Rutgers and Louisville lose their season finales, and if Cincinnati loses one of its last two, they might back into a BCS bid. Wherever the Orange end up playing this postseason, they are likely to score plenty of points. Quarterback Ryan Nassib is averaging over 300 yards and three touchdowns a game. The Orange rush for 196 yard per game. Syracuse has scored over 35 points per game in its last five.

The Temple Owls (4-6, 2-4) can do some scoring of their own. The Owls dropped 63 on Army last Saturday. Tailback Montel Harris ran for 351 yards on 36 carries and seven touchdowns in West Point. Those numbers are both new Big East records. The Owls totaled 565 yards against the Black Knights -- 31 of those came through the air. Temple needs to score plenty, because the Owls have allowed over 500 yards to opponents in three of their past four games.

No. 2 Louisville vs. Northern Iowa final: Cardinals hold off Panthers 51-46

The No. 2 Louisville Cardinals pulled out a win Thursday night over Northern Iowa 51-46 in a low-scoring, poor shooting affair at the Battle for Atlantis, in Nassau, Iowa. The Cardinals led 26-20 at the half and by 18 with under 10 minutes to go, but the Missouri Valley's Panthers mounted a comeback predicated on defensive stops that put them in a position to win in the closing seconds.

Louisville's Russ Smith led the Cardinals with 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists. He was the only Louisville player to score in double figures. Peyton Siva scored seven. The Cardinals shot 30 percent from the floor, 22 percent from three-point range, and turned the ball over 20 times. Louisville had 40 points with 12 minutes to play - with under two to play, they had 44 on the scoreboard.

Northern Iowa shot 34 percent and went 6-19 from three. Guard Marc Sonnen scored 11 and forward Jake Koch had 10 for the Panthers, who trailed 48-46 with eight seconds left. NIU turned the ball over 21 times and were outrebounded 40-26 by Louisville.
