Cameron Marshall, despite reduced role, has been a leader with 'class and dignity'

Arizona St. Sun Devils' senior running back Cameron Marshall prepares for his final home game after a senior season that has seen him get fewer carries, but still lead the team in rushing yards and be a team leader.

Senior running back Cameron Marshall has seen his carries decrease in 2012 with the new group of talent joining the Arizona St. Sun Devils' backfield. After four years of carrying the ball for the Sun Devils, Marshall will play his final game in Sun Devil Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking about Marshall, running backs' coach Larry Porter told the Arizona Republic's Doug Haller, "he's handled this like most four-year seniors should handle it: with class and dignity. He's been a leader in every capacity."

Despite carrying the ball fewer times than in the past, Marshall has rushed for a team-high 428 yards and six touchdowns. Marshall is tenth on ASU's all-time rushing list with 2,599 yards for his career. Marshall is three touchdowns away from setting the program's career record for rushing touchdowns.

Marshall admitted that it has been tough thinking about taking the field in Tempe for the final time. "I get emotional a little bit trying to think about the last time I'm going to run out of that tunnel," he said. "I kind of just want to see how it is, just in that moment and embrace it."

Saturday's final home game, against the Washington St. Cougars, kicks off at 12 p.m. ET and is going to be televised on Pac-12 Networks.
