Todd Graham says Deveron Carr is ASU's most improved football player

Arizona State head coach Todd Graham told the media on Monday that cornerback Deveron Carr was the most improved player in the Sun Devils program.

During his Monday press conference, Arizona St. Sun Devils head coach Todd Graham spoke about the improvements that have been made by the team's secondary. Specifically, he said that cornerback Deveron Carr is the most improved football player in the Arizona State program.

I think Carr is probably the most improved player in the program. Those guys mean a lot to me and I think they will be guys that will go on and have success. It meant a lot to me personally because they bought in to what we were doing."

Carr, a junior from Scottsdale, has 19 tackles and an interception this season, as well as four passes broken up.

The Sun Devils are fourth in the nation in passing defense, allowing only 167.6 passing yards a game though 10 games. That number is amazing considering how poor they were in that regard in 2011. Last season, Arizona State finished the season ranked 108th in passing defense, and allowed 273 passing yards per game.

Carr and the rest of the secondary will be challenged this week when the Sun Devils host the Washington State Cougars. While Washington State is only 2-8 on the season, they're sixth in the nation in passing offense, averaging more than 337 yards per game in the air.
