Sutton is one of the top defensive players in the country and is ranked in the nation's top five in both sacks and tackles for a loss.

Arizona St. Sun Devils' defensive lineman Will Sutton was named a semifinalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award on Monday. The award is given to the top defensive player in the country and will find out if he is one of three finalists when the announcement is made on Nov. 19.

Sutton currently has 7.5 sacks, 40 tackles and 14 tackles for a loss, but has not been able to add to his stats due to an injury he suffered two games ago against the Oregon Ducks. He hurt his right knee early in the first quarter and didn't return and then missed the following game against the UCLA Bruins.

Sutton ranks fourth in the nation in tackles for a loss and fifth in sacks.

But how the Sun Devils have played since he got hurt could actually help his cause. Without their star, the Sun Devils have given up 618 yards rushing and 88 points in the two games he's missed.
