Jahii Carson is Sun Devils player of the week

Jennifer Stewart-USA TODAY Sports

Freshman has proven to be Arizona State's best player through five weeks of the season.

Arizona State freshman guard Jahii Carson has been named the Sun Devil of the week by SB Nation's Arizona State blog, House of Sparky.

Carson, a 5'10, 175-pound Mesa, Ariz., native, was dominant in the Sun Devils two games this week, averaging 15 points, five assists and 36 minutes against DePaul and Dartmouth. Arizona State lost to DePaul, 78-61, and beat Dartmouth, 61-42.

Carson, the No. 33 ranked prospect in the class of 2012 according to Rivals.com, was a highly sought recruit and picked Arizona State over offers from Arizona, Marquette, Memphis, Oregon, UCLA and Washington, among others. In 11 games this season, Carson has lived up to the hype, averaging 17.9 points and 5.3 assists.

Through five weeks, House of Sparky has ranked each one of Arizona State's players on their performance. Here's the complete list.

  1. Jahii Carson
  2. Carrick Felix
  3. Jordan Bachynski
  4. Evan Gordon
  5. Jonathan Gilling
  6. Chris Colvin
  7. Eric Jacobsen
  8. Kenny Martin
  9. Ruslan Pateev
  10. Bo Barnes
