The United States dispatched Spain in their final tune-up before the Olympic Games. The USA nor Spain seemed intent on revealing their hands too much after the first quarter, and the talent of the American squad eventually wore down the Spanish. The United States got nice contributions from Carmelo Anthony (who finished with 27 points) and LeBron James (who put up 25 points and eight assists). Kevin Durant added 13 points and eight assists.
The two USMNT members with Arizona ties had relatively low-key games. James Harden put up seven points and one assist, while Andre Iguodala had a rebound and an assist while scoring zero points. Pau Gasol had 19 points and five rebounds to lead Spain, with Serge Ibaka chipping in with 16 points and four boards, Juan Carlos Navarro with 11 and Jose Calderon dishing eight assists.
The United States now gets ready for Olympic play, as they must face France on Sunday in London to start off group play action.

Team USA basketball had an easy time with Great Britain on Thursday, blowing them out by a score of 118-78. It was a welcome win for the team after a near-scare against Brazil earlier in the week, and they were led by the scoring efforts of Carmelo Anthony (19), LeBron James (16), Russell Westbrook (15) and Deron Williams (19).
Andre Iguodala, a former standout with the Arizona Wildcats during his college days, continued to be a great asset off the bench despite not scoring much. In a little more than 17 minutes of play, Iguodala scored two points, brought down six rebounds and dished out six assists. James Harden, a former Arizona St. Sun Devil, scored nine and recorded three assists in just over 11 minutes on the court.
Team USA will continue their preparations for the 2012 Olympics with two more exhibition games before arriving in London.

For all the hullaballoo about Kobe Bryant's "Dream Team" comments last week, the U.S.A. sure didn't do itself any favors to dispel the better team myth in the first quarter of an exhibition game against Brazil.
The national team had to overcome a poor first quarter showing where they trailed 27-17. Team U.S.A. clamped down on defense, which led to multiple steals en route to a 16-2 run that punctuated the quarter. Brazil was outscored 20-5 in the second quarter as Team U.S.A. went up by singled digits by halftime.
From there on out, the biggest news story of the day was that the First Lady denied President Obama on the "Kiss Cam", The President even weighed in with ESPN's Chris Palmer on Bryant's statement from last week.
Obama on the Dream Team vs 2012: "I've got to go with the original Dream Team."

WASHINGTON D.C. -- SB Nation Arizona's Jose Romero caught up with former Arizona State-current Oklahoma City Thunder star James Harden after the USA Olympic basketball team finished a practice in front of hundreds of military personnel and their families Saturday at the D.C. Armory in the nation's capital.
Harden talked about what ASU basketball did for him, and about his experience with this team of NBA stars that is soon to head to London for the 2012 Olympics, where it is favored to win the gold medal. The Americans are in D.C. for Nike's World Basketball Festival, plus an exhibition game against Brazil Monday night.
Harden is one of the 3-point marksmen on the U.S. team. He hit a couple of big shots in practice and in the team's scrimmage Saturday. He also teamed up with a U.S. soldier in a shooting contest in which the highest-scoring tandem of seven pairs of players and servicemen won.

This was a cruise-fest for the United States in their first tune-up before the Olympic Games. The United States easily handled the Dominican Republic 113-59 in a game that was over by halftime.
Surprisingly, it was Andre Iguodala providing a great deal of the scoring punch with 19 points off the bench. Iguodala spent much of the night spotting up and nailing wide-open three pointers from the corner, usually facing no real threat. The former Arizona Wildcat was the second-leading scorer on the night, trailing Kevin Durant who was stroking it from three point land.
James Harden had a quieter game, although he did have a few nice moves in the fourth quarter when the game was all but over. The United States now moves on to face Brazil in their final tune-up stateside before heading over to Europe.
