The BCS is looking like it's all but dead as a college football playoff seems to be headed our way.
After much hemming and hawing, it looks like we're going to get a four-seeded college football playoff.

What it'll look like remains to be seen, but it will be four teams seeded in some manner. The top four teams overall based on rankings or a selection commitee, regardless of conference affiliation? The top four conference champions based on similar criteria, but also eliminating the possibility of at-large teams like Alabama winning it all? Will it be a format that involves the bowls (i.e. a plus-one situation)?
There does appear to be a favorite among the college commissioners.

We'll have to see what the college presidents agree upon before we can say we're getting the playoff we've been hoping we'd get for a long time.
