Arizona Beats Cal 78-74: Arizona Coach & Cal Player Involved in Altercation

Arizona beat Cal in a close one Thursday night, 78-74, and in any rivalry conference game that comes down to the wire, emotions are going to run high. That was readily apparent in this one, and one Arizona assistant seemingly let his emotions get the better of him.

With just under five minutes to go in this one, Cal point guard Jorge Gutierrez dove into the Arizona bench while going for a loose ball. Arizona assistant coach Joe Pasternack, a former coach at Cal from 2001-2007, apparently kicked him. Sort of.

Gutierrez didn't really like this. The two jawed at each other a bit before being separated by Arizona head coach Sean Miller. Gutierrez took exception to what had transpired, and reportedly did not shake hands with him after the game. According to Larry Brown Sports.com, 'Pasternack probably won't lose his job like [former Jets' strength and conditioning coach] Sal Alosi did for a similar incident, but with Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott in attendance for the game, there could be some punishment.'

See video of the incident here, and because we all love .gifs, here is a gif.
