Kyle Fogg, Jesse Perry Step Up On Senior Day For Arizona Wildcats

The Arizona Wildcats needed to defeat the UCLA Bruins if they hoped to have any chance at making the NCAA Tournament. Despite a sluggish start, slow tempo and a bevy on unnecessary whistles, the UA pulled away late in the second half in front of upwards of 14,700 fans at McKale Center to win 65-63.

Kyle Fogg, a senior, scored 16 of his 20 points in the second half and brought down nine rebounds for the fourth consecutive game. Jesse Perry, another senior, had 16 points -- 12 of which came in the second half -- and six rebounds, while Solomon Hill added 13. Neither of the freshmen guards played well; Josiah Turner and Nick Johnson combined for five turnovers, one assist and 11 points on 4-for-12 shooting.

Jerime Anderson led the Bruins with 20 points and both of the Wear twins had a strong game, combining for 21 points and 15 rebounds. Josh Smith dominated the paint whenever he was on the floor, but the sluggish big man picked up two fouls early and never had much of a consistent impact.

Arizona picks up their 21st win of the season and improves to 12-5 in Pac-12 play, guaranteeing themselves a first round bye in the conference tournament regardless of their outcome against the Arizona St. Sun Devils next weekend.

Josiah Turner, Kyle Fogg Lead Arizona Wildcats To Victory Over USC Trojans

The Arizona Wildcats needed to avoid the proverbial trap game on Thursday night against a struggling USC Trojans club with the UCLA Bruins looming on Saturday. Despite a slow start, the UA dominated the second half and went on to claim a 70-54 victory. Arizona claimed win No. 20 on Thursday night and improved to 11-5 in conference play.

Josiah Turner played his best game of the season and ended with 15 points, seven assists, three rebounds and two steals. The freshman point guard continues to show everyone why scouts drooled over him in high school. Kyle Fogg had a big night with 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Solomon Hill and Nick Johnson both had nine points.

The Trojans started off well and held a lead of eight points early, but the club went the final 7:50 in the first half without scoring a basket. Byron Wesley led all scorers with 18 points and point guard Maurice Jones added 10 points, six assists and seven rebounds. USC falls to 6-22 on the season and still just has one conference victory.

Arizona now has a quick turnaround before they welcome in the UCLA Bruins to McKale Center. Tipoff is set for noon on Saturday and CBS will air the game. The Wildcats will debut their new Nike Platinum uniforms.
