Greg Byrne, the Athletic Director at the University of Arizona, is one of the best in the country.
He was instrumental in the bringing of the ginormous scoreboard to Arizona Stadium, got the ball rolling on the eventual renovations set for the McKale Center, and uses social media to communicate with the fan base better than any AD in the nation.
With numerous reports coming in Monday afternoon in regards to Arizona's search for a new head coach, Byrne decided to do something unconventional: confirm the hiring via Twitter.
Instead of a boring press release from UA, Byrne, who was visiting Rich Rodriguez and his family in Michigan, tweeted that he would confirm the hiring with a tweet. We have his tweet that sent Wildcat Nation into a frenzy early Monday evening.
And here is the photo of Byrne and the Rodriguez family:
Welcome to Tucson, coach. You have the full support of the fan base and we cannot wait to see you rebuild the program. Bear Down.
