What a sad, awful summer for Kevin Parrom. Anthony Gimino of the Tucson Citizen reports.

The mother of Arizona Wildcats basketball player Kevin Parrom has died after fighting cancer for more than two years.

Parrom wrote this on his Twitter page Sunday night: "I Love You Momma! You Dont Have To Deal With No More Pain And Now You Can Watch Ya Baby Boy Make You Proud From Up Above. Love You Ma ! RIP"

He's also lost his grandmother. And he's been shot, which could affect whether he plays any sort of basketball with the Wildcats this season. Other than that, everything's been going splendid.

I think we've found someone we can all root for this year in college basketball, don't you think?
