ASU Vs. Missouri Score: Sun Devils In Halftime Hole, 17-7

Stay connected for news and updates

Arizona State salvaged a rough first half with a late score and entered halftime trailing the Missouri Tigers 17-7 in the Sun Devils' first road game of the year.

Trailing 17-0, the Sun Devils put together a seven-play, 66-yard touchdown drive to help keep them in contention for the second half. After being in danger of finishing with under 50 yards of offense in the half, Taylor Kelly hit DJ Foster on a screen pass, and Foster ran 33 yards for a touchdown.

Previous to that score, things looked bleak for the Sun Devils, who gave up 72 yards worth of punt returns in the quarter. Missouri returner E.J. Gaines provided a 48-yard punt return with six minutes left in the half, setting the Tigers up with an 18-yard field. Four plays later, Kendial Lawrence punched in a seven-yard touchdown run to give Missouri a 17-0 lead.

A fumbled punt return by the Sun Devils gave Missouri a similarly-short field in the first quarter for their other touchdown drive.

Kelly finished the first half throwing 5-of-12 for 62 yards, one touchdown and one interception for the Sun Devils.
