Arizona State basketball took a big hit today as it was reported by CBS's Jeff Goodman that junior Trent Lockett will transfer. The Sun Devils' leading scorer in the 2011-2012 season will head north to explore his options in Minnesota as he looks to live closer to his mother, who is sick with cancer and very ill, per reports.
Lockett averaged 13 points and 5.8 rebounds this past season and joins the apparent exodus from the team of late, joining starting forward Kyle Cain and reserve wing Chanse Creekmur, who both announced their transfers in these past two weeks. Cain averaged 7.5 points and 5.5 rebounds a game this year and Creekmur contributed 4.3 points per game. This will mark the 12th transfer for the Arizona State men's basketball program in the past four years, though this scenario obviously comes at no fault to the coaching staff or school.
Arizona State finished 10-21 overall and 6-12 in Pac-12 play this past season.
