2012 Arizona State Recruiting: Arizona Western College RB Damien Williams Knocks Sun Devils Out Of The Running

Arizona Western College running back Damien Williams told Rivals.com that it is down to two schools for his services next season and Arizona State did not make the cut.

Williams will decide between Oklahoma and Texas Tech as his next team with the firing of Dennis Erickson being cited as the primary reason for Williams' decision to go elsewhere.

It's a big loss for ASU since Williams had already shown that he wanted to come to the school on more than one occasion. Williams had committed to Arizona State twice previously, including right out of high school, but didn't meet academic requirements. Once Erickson was fired, he allowed himself to be recruited again.

In two years at Arizona Western, Williams led the NJCAA with nearly 2,000 yards rushing, made 20 receptions and even threw two touchdown passes. Williams is currently ranked no. 15 among JUCO transfers in the country by Scout.com.
