It's an hour before kickoff of the the Big Game and ASU Sun Devil Stadium is starting to fill with black-clad fans. A rare sellout is expected, the first since 2008 versus Georgia. Over 70,000 will be here tonight to see Arizona State take on the 21st-ranked Missouri Tigers.
There might be summer thunder storm clouds on the horizon with occasional flashes of lightening, but a little rain isn't going to slow down this crowd. (Of course, it is Phoenix where a little rain can shut down main arteries of traffic.)
All that matters is what Brock Osweiler and Vontaze Burfict do on the field. A win on national TV against a well-known and ranked opponent, and BOOM, this program is on the map for 2011. A loss, and the air will deflate like a popped balloon. It doesn't get any bigger than that for an early season contest.
Like everyone else, we're pulling for an ASU win. We want this school to be relevant again in football. We're dying for the Sun Devils to be a topic of conversation on par with the Cardinals.
It's black versus white, and tonight we're going over to the dark side.
