College Football Rankings: Polls Shine On Stanford, LSU And Alabama Hold

The college football rankings are out for Week 10 and the polls certainly show some movement. The AP poll will be released later in the day. The USA Today Coaches Poll is out and gives us a picture of where the best teams in college football stand.

At the top of the pile, LSU (1) and Alabama (2) both had a bye week in advance of their big meeting next week in Tuscaloosa. The Oklahoma State Cowboys (4) handled their business against a good Baylor team, 59-24.

In the game of the weekend, Andrew Luck used all his special powers to survive a Triple Overtime game, giving Stanford (3) the 56-48 win over UCS (20). The Cardinals jumped over the Cowboys with the win to take the third-spot in the Coaches Poll while the Trojans aren't ranked due to their compliance troubles.

The big upset in the top teams was the Clemson Tigers (previously no. 6) falling to Georgia Tech, 31-17. The polls punished the Tigers by dropping them to 12th.

There were two more games featuring top teams squaring off and in both cases we saw blowouts. The Michigan State Spartans got pummeled by the Nebraska Cornhuskers, 24-3. Michigan State fell to 16 while Nebraska jumped to no. 9. And Oklahoma avenged their loss from last week by putting it to the Kansas State Wildcats, 58-17. The Sooners are ranked 7th now while the Wildcats fell to 19th.

In the Pac-12, the Oregon Ducks started slow but turned on the jets in the second half and ran away from Washington State, 43-28. The Ducks are now no. 6 in the Coaches Poll. And of course, here in Arizona we saw ASU pummel Colorado and as a result they climbed two spots to 18th.

The AP poll will be released later in the day. We'll provide an update when it comes out.
