The Utah Utes have suffered a potentially devastating blow to their Pac-12 South title hopes. Quarterback Jordan Wynn suffered an injury to his non-throwing shoulder, meaning that he'll be out 2-3 weeks while it heals. Wynn's injury puts Jon Hays in the driver seat at quarterback, which means the hopes of the Utes winning the Pac-12 South become that much more dire. Their opponent in Rice-Eccles this week are the divisional favorites Arizona St. Sun Devils, who will be looking to prove that no one will stand up to them down South.
Wynn wasn't having a great season, but it looked like he was putting things together against the Washington Huskies defense, completing 70% of his passes on 8.8 yards per passing attempt. Hays actually performed quite well in relief and put up similar numbers to Wynn, notching up 10 completions on 16 attempts and 9.8 yards per pass attempt. Most of his prominent stats came in garbage time though, so it's hard to see if he could replicate those numbers against a formidable ASU defense.
