Cougars Maul Sun Devils, Play Shut-Down Defense In Second Half

Pullman, WA (Sports Network) - DeAngelo Casto tallied 25 points as the Washington State Cougars defeated the Arizona State Sun Devils, 78-61, in a Pac-10 Conference showdown at Beasley Coliseum.

Klay Thompson added 22 points, eight rebounds and nine assists for the Cougars (14-5, 4-3 Pac-10). Reggie Moore scored 11 points and Marcus Capers finished with 10.

Arizona State (9-9, 1-5) was led by Ty Abbott's 16 points, while Jamelle McMillan added 10 points in support.

Washington State was in control from the jump, building a 41-31 lead at the break behind 59.3 percent shooting.

The Cougars also flexed their defensive muscles, limiting Arizona State to just eight field goals after intermission.

Washington State dominated in the trenches, outscoring the Sun Devils 34-12 in the paint.
