Devils and Wildcats even in Pac-12 South standings

With the Devils dropping four straight and the Wildcats turning their season around, the major college football teams in Arizona are now tied in the Pac-12 South.

RB Ka'Deem Carey has career game for Wildcats

The Arizona Wildcats got back on track Saturday with their 56-31 victory over the Colorado Buffaloes thanks to a historic day from RB Ka'Deem Carey.

With QB Matt Scott (concussion) still recovering, the sophomore ball carrier put the team on his back, setting the school rushing record in the process with a 366 yards, five touchdown performance. With the 34 receiving yards he also chipped in, Carey came up just 37 yards shy of producing the same amount of total offense that the Buffaloes had as a team.

AZ Desert Swarm noted that Arizona's offense "didn't skip a bit" with B.J. Denker running the show purely because of Carey's dominance. SB Nations' Wildcats' blog also pointed out that Arizona's unforgiving run game allowed them to dominate the time of possession 41:17 to 18:12 to limit the amount of potential mistakes for Denker.

Arizona vs. Colorado final: Wildcats win 56-31

The Colorado Buffaloes led 10-7 after the first quarter against the Arizona Wildcats on Saturday. They were outscored 49-21 the rest of the way as the Wildcats defeated the Buffaloes, 56-31, to continue the Buffaloes forgettable season.

The Buffaloes were able to do some things on offense. They put up 213 yards passing and 224 yards rushing with four touchdowns. Christian Powell had a monster game with 137 yards and two touchdowns.

But the Buffaloes' defense once again struggled, particularly against the run, and just couldn't stop the Wildcats. Ka'Deem Carey rushed for an astounding 366 yards on 25 carries. He scored five touchdowns and averaged 14.6 yards per carry. The Wildcats totaled 438 yards rushing as a team with six rushing touchdowns. Quarterback B.J. Denker added two passing touchdowns.

The Buffaloes just couldn't stop the Wildcats and it dampened their early excitement after building the early lead.

The Buffaloes had the ball for more than 41 minutes but couldn't prevent the Wildcats from putting up their numbers in just over 18 minutes of possessing the ball.

The Buffaloes dropped to 1-9 overall, 1-6 in the Pac-12 and the Wildcats improved to 6-4, 3-4 in the Pac-12.

Box Score Hero: Ka'Deem Carey had the game of his life with 366 yards and five touchdowns on 25 carries.

Rankings Ramifications: The Wildcats did what they were supposed to do but they shouldn't be ranked when the new rankings come out.

But Did They Cover?: The Wildcats won by 25 but still didn't cover the spread after being 31-point favorites heading into the game.

Next Week's Schedule: The Buffaloes host the Washington Huskies Nov. 17 while the Wildcats travel to face the Utah Utes.

ASU tied with USC, 14-14, at half

The Arizona State Sun Devils are tied with USC Trojans, 14-14, after one half of play on Saturday in Los Angeles. A wild first fifteen minutes continued into the second as both teams turned the ball over on their first possessions of the quarter. The turnovers made it four-straight turnovers combined for both teams and five overall.

ASU quarterback Taylor Kelly began the second with an interception, but his wasn't nearly as costly as the one thrown by Matt Barkley. Alden Darby picked off the USC quarterback on the ensuing drive and took the ball back 70 yards for a go-ahead touchdown.

The interception was Barkley's second of the day. The Trojans also gave the ball away on a fumble by wide receiver Marqise Lee that led to ASU's first score.

The Trojans came back to tie the game on their final drive of the half. Barkley hit Lee multiple times to move the ball down the field, and the drive was capped by a 4-yard touchdown catch by Xavier Grimble.

USC will get the ball to start the second half.

Arizona pulls way from CU, up 49-17 after 3rd

The Arizona Wildcats fell behind early, but have stormed back to take a commanding 49-17 lead into the fourth quarter. The Wildcats have scored touchdowns on seven-consecutive drives since Colorado took a 7-0 lead.

Running back Ka'Deem Carey is having an all-world day. Carey has 293 yards and four touchdowns on just 21 carries. The total is an Arizona single-game rushing record. He has accounted for the majority of the Wildcats offense on Saturday afternoon.

The Wildcats had three touchdown drives in the third quarter to blow the game open. Arizona hasn't needed much from quarterback B.J. Denker, but he has been efficient. Denker has completed 11/13 passes for 140 yards and two scores. He also has rushed the ball six times for 23 yards and a touchdown.

A win would give Arizona six and make them bowl eligible with two games to play. Colorado has the ball as the fourth quarter begins.

Arizona up 28-17 on Colorado at halftime

The Arizona Wildcats started slow against the one-win Colorado Buffaloes on Saturday morning, but a big second quarter propelled them to a 28-17 lead.

Ka'Deem Carey has been the star so far. The sophomore tailback has 12 carries for 121 yards and three touchdown scores. He also leads the team with 34 receiving yards.

B.J. Denker, who is filling in for the injured Matt Scott, has impressed in his first career start at Arizona. He fumbled a bad handoff on the first drive of the game, but since has gone 9-for-10 for 122 passing yards and a touchdown.

Colorado came out inspired, but their defense has really let them down so far. Nick Hirschman is making the first start of his career and has been impressive sans a poor interception toss. He has completed 10 of his 11 attempts for 122 yards. Running back Christian Powell is having a big game for the Buffaloes, carrying the ball 19 times for 67 yards and two scores.

The second half is about to begin on FX.

Arizona trails Colorado 10-7 after first quarter

The Arizona Wildcats trail Colorado by a score 10-7 after one quarter of play in Tucson.

The Wildcats stopped the Buffaloes on their first drive of the game, but a costly fumble inside their own 10-yard line led to seven easy points for Colorado. Arizona responded with an impressive touchdown drive that was capped off with a touchdown run from Ka'Deem Carey. With just seconds left in the first quarter, CU was stopped near the goal line and settled for a field goal to take a 10-7 lead.

Other than the early fumble, backup quarterback B.J. Denker has looked good for UA. Denker has completed four of his five pass attempts for 59 yards. Carey has carried the ball six times for 30 yards and the touchdown score.

Nick Hirschman, who was anointed Colorado's starter just hours before the game in place of Jordan Webb, is 5-for-5 with 50 passing yards so far. The 'Cats have been in a position to make big plays, but poor tackling has prevented them from getting off the field.

The second quarter is about to begin. Arizona has the ball at about midfield.
