Arizona Wildcats junior linebacker Marquis Flowers was named Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week, according to an announcement made by the team on Monday. The award is the No. 22 Wildcats' fifth of the year, with two defensive players and three special teams players nabbing the honor.

The 6'3 Flowers had seven tackles (three solo), a forced fumble and two interceptions for the Wildcats in their 39-36 upset of the No. 10 USC Trojans. Flowers' interception of Trojans' quarterback Matt Barkley on the game's opening drive set up a seven-play, 60-yard touchdown drive that gave Arizona an early lead.

In the second quarter, Flowers forced a fumble on a carry by running back Silas Redd that was recovered by Jonathan McKnight, and later intercepted Barkley at midfield to secure a Wildcats' three-point lead heading into halftime.

Arizona heads to the Rose Bowl on Saturday for a Pac-12 showdown with the UCLA Bruins. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. PT and the game will be televised on the Pac-12 Network.
