Halftime couldn't come soon enough for the Arizona Wildcats. The UCLA Bruins offense is shredding 'Zona's defense by scoring six touchdowns in the first half of the game. All Arizona could do was score a single field goal. With his team down 42-3 at the half, Wildcats coach Rich Rodriguez will have some choice words, all likely unsuitable for print, to deliver to his team.
In the first quarter, UCLA scored three unanswered touchdowns. The first of the three was an historic one for UCLA running back Johnathan Franklin. His 37-yard rush put him at the top of the Bruins' all-time rushing list, surpassing Gaston Green. Green had held the record since 1987.
Down 21-0 to start the second quarter, 'Zona allowed another UCLA touchdown to put the score at 28-0. The Wildcats finally stopped the bleeding with a field goal at the 6:47 mark. The wound would re-open three minutes later, as UCLA's Franklin scored his second touchdown of the game on a 2-yard rush. To add insult to injury, UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley completed a pass to Joseph Fauria for a 1-yard touchdown.
Going into the locker room, the hole Arizona has dug for themselves stands at 42-3.

Not exactly the start the Arizona Wildcats were looking for. The unranked UCLA Bruins exploded in the first quarter for three touchdowns, none of which were answered by the No. 22 Wildcats. At the close of the first quarter, the hole Arizona has dug itself is quite large, with the Bruins leading, 21-0.
The first touchdown of the game was by Bruins' running back, Johnathan Franklin. It would be an historic 37 yard run for Franklin, as he assumed the top spot as UCLA's all-time leading rusher. Following the record setting touchdown, the Wildcats allowed another rushing touchdown, this time by Bruins' quarterback, Kevin Hundley. To close out the scoring spree for UCLA was Jordan Payton on a 17 yard TD pass from Hundley.
Arizona is struggling to get anything going on offense. After the first quarter, UCLA amassed 195 yards on offense to 'Zona's 21. The Wildcats are 0-for-3 on 3rd down conversions. Quarterback Matt Scott has completed 4-of-7 passes for 19 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions.
