The Arizona Wildcats' 52-17 win over the Washington Huskies was a welcome change from the norm for the Wildcats and their offense.
As AZ Desert Storm points out, the Wildcats came into the game with a pass-happy offense under head coach Rich Rodriguez, and quarterback Matt Scott was reaping the benefits of the system. But on Saturday, Rodriguez changed strategies and decided to ride the legs of running back Ka'Deem Carey instead, and the change proved warranted. Carey amassed 172 yards on 29 carries, allowing Scott to play quarterback on cruise control while the Wildcats piled it on the Huskies.
Scott still put up 256 yards and four touchdowns, but it came through the fear of the running game and an offensive line that had what AZ Desert Storm called their "best performance of the year". If the Wildcats can run the ball effectively without losing sight of their passing capabilities, they could turn into the balanced offense Rodriguez always envisioned.

After losing a close game to Stanford the previous week, the high scoring Arizona Wildcats were still looking for their first win in the Pac-12. They got the first victory at the expense of the Washington Huskies. 'Zona dominates Washington, 52-17.
The only time Washington held a lead was 10 minutes into the first quarter. After their field goal, it was all Arizona with a little bit of Washington mixed in. 'Zona quarterback Matt Scott completed 14-of-22 passes for 256 yards and 4 touchdowns; this is in addition to his 8 carries for 43 yards and 1 touchdown. Dan Buckner lead the Wildcats in catches with 5 receptions for 86 yards. The workhorse of the night was running back Ka'Deem Carey. Carey carried the ball 29 times for 172 yards and 1 touchdown.
Washington quarterback Keith Price managed to match his opposing quarterback's yard total of 256. The only difference is that it took 29-of-52 tries to get to that point. Price threw 2 interceptions and was sacked 4 times. Of the 2 touchdowns scored by the Huskies, one went to running back Bishop Sankey and the other to tight-end Austin Seferian-Jenkins.
Arizona improves it's overall record to 4-3 and did pick up that illusive first Pac-12 victory, putting them at 1-3 in conference. Washington is now on a 3 game losing streak, taking their record to 3-4 overall and 1-3 in conference.

In search of their first conference win, the Arizona Wildcats lead their conference foes, the Washington Huskies, by the score of 10-3 after one quarter of play at Arizona Stadium.
The Huskies struck first, putting together an extensive 14-play, 65-yard drive that resulted in a successful 43-yard field goal off the leg of kicker Travis Coons. Washington quarterback Keith Price starred on the drive, being involved in 10 of the 14 plays.
Arizona responded immediately and did Washington one better, scoring a touchdown on their very first drive to take the lead. The team put together 7 plays for 75 yards and the score, where quarterback Matt Scott connected with wide receiver David Richards for 27 yards in the end zone.
Both teams did their damage early in the first quarter, before the two defensive units settled down for the remainder of the period. Arizona was still able to put three more points on the board, though.
