MLB injury update: Outfielder Adam Eaton has broken hand, will miss rest of season

During the seventh inning of the Arizona Diamondbacks' 8-2 win over the Chicago Cubs Saturday night, they suffered an unfortunate injury. Rookie outfielder Adam Eaton, who has made a very big impact in his short time with the team, was hit by a pitch and, as announced by the team after the game, suffered a broken right hand as a result.

He will miss the final four games of the season.

Eaton was two for four on Saturday with two runs scored and reached base a third time with that pitch that hit him.

He played in 22 games for Arizona, collecting 22 hits, including three doubles, two triple and two homers, driving in five runs and stealing two bases. He also scored 19 runs, while hitting .259. More impressively, his on-base percentage was .382.

The expected recovery time for the injury is six to eight weeks. Aside from missing the last few games, the timing works out well because the offseason is just around the corner. Unless there are complications, there will be no problem with his being ready for the spring.
