The Arizona Diamondbacks have a number on intriguing matchups next year with all-season interleague play going into effect in 2013.
Major League Baseball released the 2013 schedules for all 30 teams on Wednesday, and the Arizona Diamondbacks have some interesting matchups in the first year under the new divisional realignment and all-year interleague play.
Arizona will open and close its 16th year of existence at Chase Field, opening with w three-game set on April 1 against the St. Louis Cardinals and will finish the year with a three-game series against the Washington Nationals, Sept. 27- 29. Note how neither of those are NL West rivals.
On the interleague tip, Arizona has some fun matchups as well. Their first taste of the AL will come against the New York Yankees as they make their first trip to the new Yankee Stadium, April 16-18. Arizona will host the Texas Rangers for a doubleheader on Memorial Day, May 27, as well as have a two-game set in Texas May 29-30. It will be only their second double-header in team history.
A pair of road games in Tampa Bay July 30-31, a three-game set at Fenway Park, Aug. 2-4, a home set against the Rays, Aug. 6-7, and another against the Orioles Aug. 12-14, are also on the docket. Arizona will close out Interleague play against the Blue Jays on Labor Day weekend, Sept. 2-4.
