The All-Star break begins with the MLB Futures Game. The best and brightest minor leaguers will play on Sunday.
On Sunday, the All-Star break will unofficially begin with the 2012 MLB Futures Game in Kansas City. This game pits the best and brightest of the minor-league players against one another with a U.S. team and a World team duking it out and trying to impress on a national stage.
The Arizona Diamondbacks will be represented by pitcher Tyler Skaggs, who replaced selection Trevor Bauer, who was of course promoted up to the majors last week. The Diamondbacks will also have a representative on the World roster, as right-handed outfielder Alfredo Marte will perhaps try to get a key hit off of Skaggs. We can dream, at least.
The game will begin at 2 p.m. PT and will be televised nationally on ESPN 2, or you can catch the game online at MLB.tv.
