Aaron Hill Hits For Cycle In Diamondbacks 9-3 Victory Over Brewers

Aaron Hill accomplished something on Saturday night that had not been accomplished since Herbert Hoover was in the oval office. Hill hit for the cycle for the second time this season in the Diamondbacks 9-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.

Hill doubled in the second inning, singled in the third, hit a two-run home run in the fourth, and hit an RBI triple in the sixth. In total, Hill finished the game 4-5 with three RBI's.

Overshadowed by Hill's performance was first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, who was a triple away from the cycle himself and finished the game 4-4 with three RBI's. Goldschmidt has raised his season batting average to .299.

Hill and Goldschmidt combined to go 8-9 with two home runs and six RBI's on Friday night.

Milwaukee got on the board early as the Brewers put a run up in the first inning. The Brewers started the game with back to back singles by Norichika Aoki and Nyjer Morgan. Aoki advanced to third on a fly-out from Ryan Braun, and scored when the next batter, Aramis Ramirez, grounded out to third.

The Diamondbacks responded in the second inning with a run of their won. Paul Goldschmidt doubled to right field to start off the inning, and with two outs, Henry Blanco poked a 3-2 breaking ball into right field for an RBI double.

The ball landed right on the right field foul line and bounced into the seats along the first base line for a ground-rule double. It was only the third RBI of the season for Blanco.

The Diamondbacks broke the game open with five-run third inning. Justin Upton and Jason Kubel had back to back RBI singles before Paul Goldschmidt blasted a three-run home run to make it 6-1 Diamondbacks.

Ian Kennedy (6-7) delivered an excellent start for Arizona as the right-hander went seven innings, allowing three runs on six hits ans striking out seven. Only one of the three runs given up by Kennedy was earned.

Brad Ziegler and Mike Zagurski both pitched scoreless innings in relief to seal the victory for Arizona. The Diamondbacks improve to 2-2 on this road trip and will send Wade Miley to the mound tomorrow.
