Daniel Hudson Could Return To D-backs Starting Rotation This Weekend

Stay connected for news and updates

In one of the more significant player injuries that the Arizona Diamondbacks have suffered, starting pitcher Daniel Hudson could be returning to the starting rotation soon, perhaps as early as the weekend, according to Nick Piecoro.

Hudson only has made three starts for Arizona this season. He had a rehab start on Monday in Triple-A Reno. It was solid enough, as he went five innings, allowing two runs on five hits, striking out two.

What was more important was his velocity. His fastball was clocked in the range of 91-97 MPH, staying consistently in the 94 MPH range.

Assuming that his shoulder responds well to the start, he could be back with the major league club, making his first start back at home during the series against the Milwaukee Brewers, who are in town Friday to Sunday.

Arizona could definitely use the help in the rotation, as outside of Wade Miley, the rotation has been woefully inconsistent and much less effective than had been hoped to start the season.
