Who might the D-backs draft in June with the 26th pick?

The Arizona Diamondbacks will have the 26th overall pick at the 2012 MLB Draft. This selection in the first round will be a bit later than they're accustomed to, but that's part of becoming a playoff team. There are a few areas the club may look to address, but the first mock draft from ESPN's Keith Law has the club taking a starting pitcher.

According to Law, the D-backs will go with Pierce Johnson, a right-handed pitcher from Missouri State. Here is the latest.

He could have gone in that 13-16 range if healthy, but a forearm strain has left his status unclear. He could still go that high if the medicals come back clean.

The Diamondbacks may elect to go after the best overall talent on the board given their current crop of talent in the Minor Leagues. They have also been linked to middle infielders, which makes some sense given the uncertain futures of Stephen Drew and Aaron Hill.

There will be plenty of mock drafts released in the coming weeks, so be sure to check back with SB Nation Arizona for our continued coverage. For more on the club, check out AZ Snake Pit.
