Going 4-6 on a ten game road trip is not the best outcome for a team in the playoff race, but Arizona Diamondbacks fans will take it after the D-backs were able to win the final three games of a four game series against the Washington Nationals in DC.↵
Rookie Wade Miley looked much better in his second career start, holding the Nationals scoreless over six innings of work to earn his first career MLB win. Chris Young and Paul Goldschmidt drove in three runs apiece, including both smashing two-run home runs.↵
It felt like hope was lost for the Diamondbacks, who have overachieved all season long. They were exposed in tough matchups against the Phillies and the Braves, losing five of six. After losing the first game against the Nationals, enough was enough -- GM Kevin Towers pulled the trigger on a waiver trade sending Kelly Johnson to Toronto for Aaron Hill and John McDonald.↵
Both players have had a positive impact on the team, and the D-backs are 3-0 since the deal was put into place.↵
One way or another, the Arizona Diamondbacks still have 31 games left in the regular season and are only 2.5 games ahead of the San Francisco Giants. A lot can happen in the next month, but they must be applauded for consistently improving and never giving up.↵
Whatever happens, our Diamondbacks deserve our support on the homestand beginning tomorrow night against the San Diego Padres.
