Diamondbacks Start Strong, Giants Fight Back to Clinch 4-3 Victory

The Diamondbacks started strong in Wednesday's Game 2 against the San Francisco Giants but ultimately found themselves looking at a 4-3 defeat by night's end. Arizona scored three unanswered through the top of the fourth inning and looked poised to even the series at 1-1. The Giants, however, scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth behind Miguel Tejada's single as they began their comeback.

Diamondbacks' pitcher Armando Galarraga (3-3) left after five and one-thirds innings after allowing four runs and eight hits while striking out four batters. His counterpart Jonathan Sanchez (3-2) allowed three runs and six hits in six innings before the Giants' relievers shut down the Diamondbacks in the latter stage of the game.

Arizona failed to put more runs on the board after the fourth inning while the Giants put in one run in both the fifth and sixth innings to take a 4-3 lead that they would not relinquish. By the end, the Giants had recorded yet another comeback victory.

The Diamondbacks have now lost three games in a row and four of their last five to drop to 15-20. They will need to turn things around on the road in California as the take on the Giants, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the San Diego Padres over the next seven days.
