If you missed being at Chase Field on Tuesday night you missed the electric feeling of playoff baseball. The Arizona Diamondbacks and Milwaukee Brewers give us another opportunity to experience magical moments like rookies Paul Goldschmidt's grand slam and Josh Collmenter's two-hitter. Game 4 of the NLDS will be the D-backs chance to even the series and forces a decisive final game on Friday.
The 2011 MLB Playoff schedule calls for the Brewers and Diamondbacks to get things started at 6:37 p.m. Arizona time at Chase Field where the roof will hopefully be open. TBS has the TV broadcast starting at 6:30 p.m. but is the Phillies - Cardinals game runs late, look for the start of the D-backs game on TNT.
Or, to avoid all the TV hassle and not miss out on incredible moments like this one.
The D-backs will be wearing their black uniforms they've worn on Saturdays and they've asked fans to wear black as well. There are tickets still available and they are giving out free black t-shirts to the first 35,000 fan as well. Blackouts are cool, by the way, remember ASU's blackout?
Starting pitchers for Game 4 are Joe Saunders (12-13, 3.69 ERA) against Randy Wolf (13-10, 3.69 ERA) during the regular season. Both of these vets had similar numbers but Saunders finished stronger.
Here's how Wolf described the D-backs lineup he'll face,
"They have a good balance. They're one of those teams that once they get the ball rolling, you have to really slow them down, because they're pretty tough. They like to get on base. They like to steal. They have a good balance of contact guys and power guys that can really do some damage. And there's really no soft spots at the end of their lineup."
Wolf's ERA in September in five starts was 4.28 with 16 runs allow over 33 innings. Saunders ERA in September was 3.15 in six starts with 14 runs allowed in 40 innings.
You wouldn't expect either of these guys to be brilliant but both have that potential. Likely it will be a game that puts up at least eight total runs.
