Arizona Cardinals, Lyle Sendlein Restructure Contract

The Arizona Cardinals are changing up the contract of yet another one of their offensive linemen, this time cneter Lyle Sendlein. Darren Urban of CardsChatter files this report.

Veteran center Lyle Sendlein said he had restructured his contract recently, which will help the Cards in their quest to keep some salary cap space cleared this offseason. Sendlein reduced his 2012 salary from $2.4 million to $700,000, according to the NFLPA. The extra $1.7M was converted to a bonus so it could be spread over the remainder of the contract, which runs through 2015.

Sendlein's deal reduces his salary by quite a bit, but he should be able to make it up if he performs well via the bonus system the Cardinals set up.

This is not the first Cardinals offensive lineman to restructure his deal. Left guard Daryn Colledge has also redone his deal, lowing his salary significantly from 3.8 million to help clear up cap space. Colledge's deal will be similar to Sendlein's, where money owed to the lineman from the deal will be distributed throughout the remainder of contract (also running through 2015).

Sendlein has started all 64 games plus playoff starts at center since the 2008 regular season.
