Arizona Cardinals Free Agency: Kicking Game Could Change Drastically

As the free agency period approaches in the next couple of weeks, the Arizona Cardinals have been working on their number priority in re-signing defensive end Calais Campbell. However, there is another priority the team needs to consider, even if it means changing personnel.

The kicking game could change completely, as kicker Jay Feely, punter Dave Zastudil and long snapper Mike Leach are all free agents.

Feely did not start the season well, but finished strong. He hit 19-24 field goal attempts and all 33 of his extra point attempts. He did, though cost the team at least one game this season because of missed kicks he typically would make.

He is now 35 and does not have elite range. He can place the ball well on kickoffs but does not have the leg to consistently put it in the endzone. In 71 kicks, he only had 21 touchbacks.

Zastudil was not spectacular but showed to be more versatile than the previous punter Ben Graham. He averaged 45.2 yards per punt, 24 punts downed inside the 20 and 37.5 net yards per kick.

Leach's job is less heralded. No one notices him unless a bad snap happens. He has been on the team for three years. The team could look for someone who would cost a little less, but they would be risking the consistently.
