Dan Williams credits coach for his production vs Jets

Mark J. Rebilas-US PRESSWIRE

After notching 10 tackles in the Cardinals' 7-6 loss to the Jets, Williams credited defensive coordinator Ray Horton for his strong performance.

If there was a bright spot in The Arizona Cardinals 7-6 loss to the New York Jets last Sunday, it might have been the play of defensive tackle Dan Williams.

In the loss -- the Cardinals eighth consecutive since starting the season 4-0 -- the 25-year-old Williams had 10 tackles, six of them solo. The three-year pro credits Cardinals defensive coordinator Ray Horton for not only his results, but the team's success on the defensive side of the ball as well, according to Kyndra de St. Aubin of ArizonaSports.com:

"I just think that he has us very prepared, the way he breaks down film, he breaks down teams and tells us their tendencies. It makes your job a little easier to have a coach that really breaks down film well."

The Cardinals forced four turnovers by the Jets -- three interceptions and one fumble -- and held them to a single touchdown and 289 total yards.

With Horton at the helm of the defense, the Cardinals rank seventh in the NFL in total team defense and third in pass defense. While the pass defense has been strong, the run defense has struggled and is currently ranked 24th in the league, allowing 124 rushing yards per game.
