Ron Jaworski says Ryan Lindley has great potential

ESPN analyst Ron Jaworksi sees a viable skill set in Arizona Cardinals rookie quarterback Ryan Lindley.

Despite a four-interception performance in his first career NFL start, Arizona Cardinals rookie quarterback Ryan Lindley has a fan in ESPN analyst Ron Jaworski. Via Arizona Sports:

"I thought [his performance] was uneven, but I still believe, from what I saw on the tape, he has a very good skill set," Jaworski told Arizona Sports 620's Burns and Gambo Thursday.

"When I look at the full body of work, his poise in the pocket, some really good throws," Jaworski said. "Of course there were some very inaccurate throws, but with a young quarterback you're going to have to live with this."

The Cardinals have been devastated by injuries this season, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. Lindley becomes the third quarterback to take snaps for Ken Whisenhunt's team this season, after Kevin Kolb and John Skelton were lost to injuries. The Cardinals are also struggling with injuries to the wide receiving core, with Andre Roberts and Early Doucet limited this week in practice, after Doucet missed last week's loss to St. Louis.

Lindley will make his second career start on Sunday against the host New York Jets, and will hope to improve on his 31 of 52, 312 yard, 4 INT debut against the Rams. Two of the four interceptions were returned for touchdowns.

Kickoff from MetLife Stadium on Sunday between the Cardinals and Jets will be at 11 a.m. MT.
